Identity Collage

Identity Collage 2013

I built this collage just over three years ago, but it remains a focus for me during 2016. During this year, I will take some time and update my identity collage. I first created an identity collage years ago when I was taking an anthropology course. [If you have never taken an anthro course, I would strongly encourage you to try one. I found it to be a very rewarding course. It helped me put many things into perspective.]

I made the image by layering pictures overtop and beside each other in a powerpoint slide and then I saved the resulting collage. It includes pictures representing my past, present and future. It was fun to make.

It took me a bit to decide what link to share with this blog post. Then I remembered this wonderful clip of Hary Chapin answering some questions from the audience. Harry’s advice, in words and song, has been very important to me. (Erickson and others too, of course, but we’ll save them for another day.)  As I look at my life, pause, reflect, aim for the future and share this with you… Harry’s words seem perfect for this post… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RLe8Wigy8ho

Down the road,  look for “Peeled from the Collage” blog posts where I will take one of the images and explain why I used it on my identity collage.

2016 Begins

new-year

Happy New Year

When I restarted this blog in 2014, I had no idea of the changes that were coming.

My role at the library shifted and I dealt with new responsibilities. I also returned to school to complete my Masters in Library Science. It was an intense and complicated 2014 – 2015. Some of my 2014 resolutions had to be set aside for a while.

Now as 2016 begins, I look forward to the months ahead. There’s lots that I want to write and do.  I am looking forward to enjoying many things in my daily life.
